J.PERIOD
J.PERIOD was called one of the “world’s top DJs” by The New York Times, and hailed by Questlove of The Roots as “the most creative mixtape producer of all-time” - which is arguably all one would really need to have on their CV. J.PERIOD was called one of the “world’s top DJs” by The New York Times, and hailed by Questlove of The Roots as “the most creative mixtape producer of all-time” - which is arguably all one would really need to have on their CV. But in fact his collaborations list is a veritable who’s-who, including superstars Nas, Mary J. Blige, Q–Tip, Common, and even comedian Dave Chapelle, for a 2021 SNL appearance; while his Hamilton Mixtape, commissioned by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda, was a Billboard #1.
A visionary musical storyteller, his now iconic “Live Mixtape” series has found wide appeal, and has been featured everywhere from The Roots Picnic to the Brooklyn Academy of Music to the Smithsonian and The Kennedy Center. In 2020, responding to the pandemic shutdowns, he even re-imagined the series as a weekly DJ broadcast on Instagram Live and YouTube, with episodes now available on Spotify, Bandcamp, Soundcloud, etc.
